Jesus at the Feast of Tabernacles (John
7:1-24)
The Brothers of Jesus were being used by Satan.
Trying to make Him proclaim Himself.
Was not time for Him to be announced.
Was not time for a Triumphant Entry into Jerusalem.
There were many conflicting reports about Jesus.
He went secretly but not publicly.
Note: Many new versions have Jesus lying here.
KJV - Jesus was not going yet.
People marvelled at His words.
Only those who love Him obey His words.
The unsaved cannot do them because they do not understand.
Religious leaders wanted Jesus dead.
They were too self-righteous to be saved.
They said He was demon possessed ... why?
a) Because He knew what was really in their hearts.
b) Because He healed on the Sabbath!
Religion = Double standards / hypocrisy.
Traditions rather than Scripture.
If Jesus honoured them, they would have accepted Him.
Religion is concerned with face values / appearances / the flesh.
Christianity is heart / soul / spirit.

Religious leaders had no spiritual understanding.
Why? .. They did not know God.
They would never reach the Kingdom.
The spiritually thirsty came to Jesus.
He is the Life-giver for all who thirst.
They are filled with the Spirit of God.
Jesus is the only way.
No unsaved person has the Spirit of God.
Who is Jesus? (John 7:40-53)
People were still confused over Jesus.
He had already made plain who He was, but they had not really heard.
Prophet? Messiah?
They thought they knew a lot about Him.
Today people think they know Him because they have seen 'Jesus of Nazareth'.
Religious leaders still scheming His death.
Secret disciples (:48).
They don't truly follow Jesus - false glory.
Fools follow Jesus (:49).
Nicodemus had to speak out.
Look at the division:
a) Some thought Jesus was a prophet.
b) Some thought He was Messiah.
c) Some thought He was false.
d) Some thought He was a man of God.
e) Religious leaders hated Him.
f) Secret disciples to scared to stand up.
