The King James Version

by Logan Harris

The following article was written by a teenager in the United States. He has given permission for it to be reproduced here. This is a simple, but wonderful description of the beauty of the King James (AV) Bible, and it proves that its language is not beyond the understanding of the young. Most people never give it any thought about what version of the Bible they should use, but in reality its a very, very important decision to make. Why? Well take what Jesus said (Matthew 5:18): "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled." If this is true, then why are there so many different versions of the Bible today? Well, the Bible is the most widest selling book in the world. It is a very lucrative business. So naturally people will want to make their own Bible business. But they can't take one copy of the Bible with the exact same text and publish it because the company would be violating copyright laws. So in order to publish it they need to have a different re-writing of the Bible. Which is why there are a lot of them. But what about Jesus saying that no word shall be changed? Well, this is why we should indeed choose our Bible version carefully. Then what version should we use? You guessed it: The King James Version.
But why? Well let me go about explaining very briefly the origins of the KJV. A long time ago when authors of the Bible had to copy it by hand, they copied it like this: They would copy every single penstroke of the last copy they had into the new copy. They would work hard to make an exact duplicate, and if they were on the very last verse of Revelation and slipped they would then put the Bible they were working on aside and start a new copy. Talk about exhausting. And even when they were to come across the word "Jehovah," or "Jesus," they would take a bath and cleanse themselves before writing it. That is how careful they copied God's Word. This extreme copy of the Bible was then translated into the King James Version. That is why when you read the King James Version you will be reading the actual words of God, and not just the ideas of God as in the New International Version. So I support very strongly the use of the King James Version now! You can even sense the authority between scripture of the NIV and the KJV. It's very important you choose the closest possible text.

If you would like get the KJV Bible and the NIV Bible and compare scripture. You'll see the vast differences in them. And in many other translations. The NIV even goes as far as to take some verses out. Not just some, a lot. Not just a lot, many! So this is why I urge you to use the King James Version (not the New King James Version) as your Bible. And I take it you'll notice a difference. Logan Harris.
